A few weeks ago:
An afternoon at P. Terry's

Happy us

LOVE this picture!
Brothers!
Pretending I'm on the beach NOT in Texas

Last week:
Shawn's teacher is the most awesome teacher ever. They came home from school one day with these bat hats. Imagine 15 kindergartners running around with these things on their heads. SO. FREAKIN. ADORABLE. Although this one picture was VERY hard to get - somebody was not keen on having his picture taken with his bat hat even tho he loves it!

By the way, so you all have a heads up, the kids will be having a grandparents day event at their school in the spring. I know we've shot ourselves in the foot being alllllll the way out here and expecting you all to come out for a grandparents day, but I'm hoping at least ONE of you will be able to make it? One out of six ain't bad... I'll send more specifics when I have them.

This last weekend on Friday night:

Shawn and I went to a friend's halloween fun fest at her school. We had a blast playing games and best of all getting candy!

Spooktacular
Sunday, October 28, 2007
Saturday Brandon passed his third and final test - yay! He came home for dinner and we took off when the moon was starting to rise to climb Mt. Bonnell and watch it rise. The night before the moon had been perfectly full and brilliantly bright, this night not so much, but he still got some gorgeous pictures of the Austin skyline.

Tonight we went to P. Terry's, our favorite place, for dinner and had snow cones on their last day of the season. Then we drove by Austin's "Halloween House" where some lady goes crazy with the Halloween decorations and lights in front of her house. She lets people walk through her driveway taking pictures and enjoying the sights and sounds. We had fun scaring ourselves silly telling ghost stories in the car while waited for the lights to go on.

My new boyfriend. I have a thing for pumpkin heads.

Speaking of Grandparents...
Monday, October 8, 2007
Justin says tonight, "I wish I could see Grandpa." and Shawn says, "Yeah, we haven't seen Grandpa in a long time. Or Oma. I like Oma." Later he says, "Could we spend the night at Oma's for five days?" Then he and Justin got into a discussion about driving versus flying out to California to see them, and how they couldn't drive by themselves but they could fly. I think they got reminded of what it's like having grandparents around with spending the day and night with Grandma, and how special it is.

These are the times I wish we didn't live so far away.

Day with Grandma
The boys have never had a grandma out here and it's always been hard for them, whether they knew it or not! Grandma & Grandpa, Oma, Opa & Terri make it out as much as they can but still it's nice to have a Grandma around. So any way, Wyndy's mother-in-law has adopted the boys as her new grandchildren - especially since her oldest grandson, Jake, just flew the coop for college!!

Last Thursday night the boys spent the night at Grandma's. They worked in the shop with Grandpa, played outside in the fort, then enjoyed a dinner of black bean and corn salad, Russian chicken, shortcake biscuits, and strawberry crepes. Yum! Brandon was out of town so I took the boys over there, enjoyed dinner as well then pretended I wasn't there and fell asleep at 8:30pm. It was so sweet hearing Grandma read to the boys. She comes in and says, "I forgot what this was like. Hearing mommy, mommy, mommy nine times. It's exhausting! There's no rest!" I nodded my head! A little while later they were out for the night, and in the morning we woke up to french toast and bacon. Yum! We headed to Sweet Berry Farm on Friday and painted pumpkins and went thru the corn maze. It was so neat to see them being enjoyed and spoiled by Grandma. It's been awhile for that one!! Since Justin's birthday maybe??
